Boosting skin regeneration & tackling the signs of ageing with PRP
What is PRP?
PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, is a fascinating procedure that uses the patient's blood to fight the signs of ageing and encourage skin regeneration!
Using only 15ml of blood taken from your arm in a similar process to having a blood test, we spin the blood in a centrifuge, separating the blood into haemoglobin and plasma. The plasma is withdrawn, and the red blood cells are discarded. Our plasma naturally contains nutrients and encourages growth; utilising plasma in this way puts PRP at the forefront of regenerative cosmetic treatments!
The platelets injected through a PRP procedure sends a signal to the skin indicating that it's time to repair and starts the "collagen production", which then rigorously produces new layers of skin tissue.
There has been a large amount of research and clinical evidence demonstrating PRP's regenerative properties to treat scars, minimising pores, fine wrinkles, hair loss, and skin rejuvenation. PRP's concentrated blood plasma with regenerative growth factors stimulates skin healing, collagen production, and other essential proteins that support the skin.
What are the benefits of PRP?
Not only does PRP help the body create new elastin and collagen, but it can encourage skin growth to repair wrinkles, acne scars, lines, stretch marks, and other types of scars. Plus, a PRP facial can deliver exceptional results, including better skin texture and tone.
One of our most popular PRP treatments at Cardiff Cosmetic Clinic is using the Dermapen micro-needling device. Dr Raj or Karen performs the entire procedure with minimal pain and in a short session. The Dermapen briefly injects the skin with very small needles. This unique treatment causes the body's natural processes to begin, with skin starting to produce more collagen and elastin in response to the needling.
Depending on your procedure, you can expect:
- reduced wrinkles
- plumper skin
- diminished acne scars
- brighter skin
How often will I need PRP?
You'll notice a tightening of the skin within a few days, as well as a glow and fullness to the entire face and an overall healthier look. The results can last several months, which is why many people choose to have PRP facials a few times per year to maintain the results for anti-ageing purposes. Initially, we recommend 4-6 treatments at two-week intervals to target scarring, skin damage, and problem areas.
What is the recovery time for PRP injections?
With PRP treatments, there is no downtime! You may not notice an immediate difference after treatment. However, due to the rigorous growth and healing thanks to PRP, you'll see the difference in the weeks and months following your treatment.
What PRP procedures do we offer at Cardiff Cosmetic Clinic?
Here at Cardiff Cosmetic Clinic, we use PRP in three different ways to boost healthy skin production:
- We inject plasma into the skin of the face and neck using a Dermapen micro-needling device. Prices start from £350 per session.
- We mix plasma with Dermal Filler and Botulinum Toxin agent and inject it into the skin of the face and neck for a triple-pronged targeting of the signs of ageing. Prices start from £450 per session.
- Finally, we can massage plasma into the skin after a session of Morpheus8 to give the treatment an extra boost and to encourage collagen to work even harder
